Method for Manufacturing a Coil from a Sheet Metal and Coil
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a method and structure for manufacturing extremely small and precise coils (spools) from thin sheet metal. The process involves stabilizing the thin sheet with a carrier plate equipped with spacers, shaping the desired coil geometry while keeping the metal stable, and then fixing the windings—either with adhesive or by mounting them on an insulating material—so they remain separated both physically and electrically. This approach enables the fabrication of compact, high-precision coils that were previously difficult to produce using traditional milling or laser cutting alone.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- MRI and NMR imaging systems, especially for small-scale or high-resolution applications
- Miniaturized and planar electronic components such as RF coils and sensors
- Microscale electromagnetic devices for scientific research or industrial automation

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing a coil (36.1, 36.9) from sheet metal (35), comprising the following steps: - producing a carrier plate (34) having spacers (32, 33) for the sheet metal, - fastening the sheet metal to the spacers of the carrier plate, - creating a coil geometry in the sheet metal. The stabilized sheet metal is excellent to work. The coil, including the windings, can be fixed so as to keep the windings separate from each other, both spatially and electrically.
