Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

The patent describes a compact, dual-mode resonator device and related method for analyzing samples, including those in closed containers. The apparatus uses a circle-cylindrical, half-open metal housing and a specialized conductive bar to form a combination of an inductor-capacitor (LC) and dielectric resonator. Uniquely, both the electrical and magnetic fields can be probed at the same sample spot, making it possible to measure dielectric relaxation and electrical conductivity of a sample simultaneously without having to reposition it.

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Allows simultaneous measurement of dielectric and conductivity properties, improving analysis speed and accuracy.
  • Enables analysis of samples within closed containers, preventing contamination and allowing non-destructive testing.
  • Highly compact and robust design suitable for integration into automated systems or portable devices.
  • High sensitivity and selectivity due to the dual-mode resonator and high-quality factors.
  • Eliminates the need for repositioning the sample between measurements, simplifying procedure and reducing error.
  • Capable of distinguishing similar liquids or tissues based on subtle electrical and dielectric property differences.

Patent Abstract

The arrangement (R) has a conductive, circle-cylindrical shaped half-open external metal housing (11), and a conductive bar (16) arranged in an interior of the housing. The bar includes a metallic stamp (15) provided at an end toward a housing bottom (14) and forms a capacitor with dielectric (18) and the housing bottom. The bar is short circuited with the housing at another end, so that the bar and housing form an inductor capacitor resonant circuit. The conductive bar is passed through a circle-cylindrical shaped half-open dual mode dielectric resonator (12) in the interior of the housing. An independent claim is also included for a method for analyzing a sample with a resonator arrangement.
