Method for Determining L-Serine, Gene Sequence, Vectors and Micro-organisms
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a method for significantly increasing the microbial production of the amino acid L-serine by genetically modifying amino acid-producing microorganisms, such as Corynebacterium or Brevibacterium species. The key aspect of the method involves reducing or completely removing the concentration of folic acid in these microorganisms, specifically by deleting or mutating genes involved in folic acid biosynthesis. The patent also covers specific DNA sequences, gene constructs (vectors), and microorganisms engineered for this purpose.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Industrial-scale production of L-serine for pharmaceuticals, food, and animal nutrition industries.
- Creation of genetically modified microbial strains for biotechnological manufacturing of L-serine and other amino acids like cysteine, tryptophan, and methionine.
- Development of kits or genetic tools (vectors) for engineering high-yield amino acid-producing bacteria.
- Supplying biotech companies with improved microbial strains for fermentation processes.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Substantially increases the yield of L-serine in fermentation processes, making production more efficient and cost-effective.
- Reduces the biosynthetic loss to folic acid, optimizing metabolic flux toward target amino acid synthesis.
- Enables precise genetic manipulations, resulting in stable, high-performing microbial production strains.
- Applicable to other valuable amino acids (cysteine, tryptophan, methionine), potentially enhancing their industrial production as well.
- Provides defined genetic tools (sequences and vectors) for straightforward implementation in different host microorganisms.

Patent Abstract
According to the invention, the folic acid concentration in amino acid producing organisms is reduced or completely removed in order to the increase the production of L-serine. The enzymes and genes, which are involved in the biosynthesis of the folic acid, can be completely excluded or at least reduced in the activity thereof. In a preferred embodiment, the sequence numbers 1 7 are used.
