Computer-Implemented Method and Apparatus for Determining Object Properties of at Least One Object in a Capture Scene
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a computer-aided method and device for determining various properties of an object in a scene using light reflection. The system captures image data of how light from a source reflects off an object, and then analyzes this data to determine characteristics such as the object's surface, shape, surface attributes, position, orientation, or material properties.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Quality control in manufacturing, where precise measurement of object shapes and surfaces is required
- Robotics and automation for object recognition and manipulation
- 3D scanning and modeling of objects for digital archiving or virtual reality applications
- Inspection of materials or components in automotive or aerospace industries
- Medical imaging or analysis where surface properties of anatomical structures matter
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enables precise, non-contact measurement and analysis of a wide range of object properties
- Improves accuracy and reliability compared to manual inspection methods
- Enhances automation and speeds up inspection or identification processes
- Capable of capturing complex surface and material characteristics
- Flexible for use in diverse industries and applications

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for determining object properties of an object (20) to be measured that is illuminated in a recording scene by a light source (10), in particular for capturing and/or measuring the object properties, wherein the object properties comprise at least one of the following: a surface (22), a shape of the object (20), one or more surface properties of the object (20), a position of the object (20), an orientation of the object (20), at least one material property of the object (20), wherein in the recording scene image data of a reflection of rays from the light source (10) on the object (20) to be measured are captured and analyzed to determine at least one of the object properties. The invention further relates to a device (100) for determining object properties of an object.
