Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention describes a method and system for determining the influence of multipath effects on a signal, which occurs when a signal takes multiple paths to reach a receiver—often causing interference and inaccuracies. The process uses real-time analysis of signal components to extract information about such multipath influences. It also includes methods and devices for improving object position detection by compensating for these multipath effects, all implemented digitally with dedicated data processing devices or software.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Enhancement of GPS and other satellite-based navigation systems for more accurate positioning in urban or complex environments
  • Optimization of wireless communication systems (e.g., mobile networks) by identifying and compensating for multipath interference
  • Improvement of radar and sonar detection where multipath signals can cause false targets or location errors
  • Use in autonomous vehicles or drones for precise location tracking and collision avoidance
  • Deployment in asset tracking systems within buildings or dense infrastructure where signals are commonly reflected

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Increases accuracy of position determination in environments with reflective surfaces
  • Reduces errors in navigation and tracking systems caused by multipath interference
  • Enables more reliable wireless communication and sensing applications
  • Can be implemented in software or hardware, allowing integration with existing devices and systems
  • Improves safety and performance for critical applications such as autonomous vehicles or air traffic control

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a system for determining a multipath effect of a signal, a method for determining the position of an object, a computer-implemented method, a data processing device, and a computer program. In a method for determining a multipath effect of a signal, an in-phase component (I) and a quadrature component (Q) are generated using a received bandpass signal (1). A first time derivative of the in-phase component (dI/dt) and/or a first time derivative of the quadrature component (dQ/dt) are used to obtain information about a multipath effect of the bandpass signal (1).
