Device for Non-Invasive Neurostimulation by Means of Multichannel Bursts
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a non-invasive neurostimulation device that uses multiple stimulation channels to deliver repetitive bursts of stimuli to specific regions of the brain or spinal cord. The stimulation is designed to desynchronize abnormally synchronized neuronal activity associated with neurological and psychiatric disorders, without resetting the phase of neural activity. The device supports various forms of stimulation (acoustic, visual, tactile, electrical, magnetic, ultrasound) and can be configured in open-loop or closed-loop modes for personalized therapy.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Treatment of neurological diseases such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, epilepsy, stroke aftereffects, and migraine
- Therapy for psychiatric conditions including depression, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and borderline personality disorder
- Non-invasive management of chronic pain, tinnitus, and fibromyalgia through targeted neural desynchronization
- Rehabilitation and neuro-modulation following brain injury or spinal cord disorders
- Cognitive enhancement or modulation in disorders such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or attention deficit disorders
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Non-invasive approach avoids surgical risks and complications associated with implanted devices
- Multiple stimulation channels allow for personalized, spatially-selective targeting of affected neural populations
- Therapeutic effect can be achieved using low-intensity stimuli, reducing discomfort and side effects
- Device offers flexibility in stimulation modality (acoustic, visual, tactile, electrical, magnetic, ultrasound) to suit various conditions and patient sensitivities
- Designed to provide long-lasting desynchronizing effects on abnormal neural activity, potentially leading to sustained symptom improvement
- Closed-loop operation enables real-time feedback and adaptation to the patient's neural responses, optimizing therapy effectiveness

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a device for the stimulation of neurones, said device comprising: - a non-invasive stimulation unit for generating stimuli in a plurality of stimulation channels, wherein the stimulation unit is designed in such a manner that the stimuli stimulate a neurone population in the brain and/or spinal cord of a patient in different locations in each case via the stimulation channels; and - a control unit which controls the stimulation unit in such a manner that the stimulation unit generates repetitive bursts in each of the stimulation channels, each of the bursts comprising multiple stimuli, wherein the bursts are designed in such a manner that they do not reset the phase of the neuronal activity of the respective stimulated neurones.
