Method and Device for Collecting Data for Posturography
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
The invention is a system (method and device) for collecting and synchronizing precise data during posturography, which assesses human or animal balance and postural control. The system uses a movable electromagnet beneath a platform with a magnetizable component and an acceleration sensor, allowing for the controlled provocation and measurement of balance responses. A digital camera and variable display enable synchronized collection of motion, time, and acceleration data, making experimental procedures more standardized and comparable.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Medical diagnostics for balance disorders and postural control assessment in humans (e.g., in neurology, geriatrics, or rehabilitation).
- Research into motor control, balance, and coordination in both humans and animals.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions for balance issues.
- Sports science to assess and train balance in athletes.
- Standardized monitoring of balance function in clinical trials or pharmaceutical studies.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enables standardized and reproducible posturography testing, enhancing intra- and inter-individual comparability.
- Improves precision by directly measuring both platform acceleration and position, reducing calculation errors.
- Allows flexible and programmable provocation (disturbance) in any direction and intensity, increasing diagnostic versatility.
- Synchronizes time, video, and sensor data for more robust and analyzable datasets.
- Supports both diagnostic and research purposes, broadening its usability in clinical and experimental settings.
- Reduces manual intervention, supporting automation and improved reliability of measurements.

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a method and to a device for collecting data for posturography. The device is characterized in that a magnetizable body (3) and an acceleration sensor (2) are located on the platform (1), which magnetizable body (3) and acceleration sensor (2) are connected to a computer (5) by means of an A/D converter (4), in that an electromagnet (11) is located below the platform (1), which electromagnet is attached in such a way that the electromagnet can be moved parallel to the plane of the platform (1) in two axes, the electromagnet being connected to an A/D converter (4) and to a power supply (10) by means of a circuit (9), and in that a time-variable display (7), which is connected to the A/D converter (4), and a digital camera (14) are present, which are connected to the computer (5). By means of the method and the device according to the invention, the posturographic measurements can now be standardized, the acceleration and the position of the platform (1) can be detected simultaneously, and provocations can be performed more variably.
