Multi-cell Battery and Battery System of Metal-Air Primary Cells with Anode Stack
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a modular, multi-cell battery system based on metal-air (specifically, silicon-air) primary cells featuring an anode stack structure. The battery is designed to have easily replaceable anode and cathode components, an exchangeable electrolyte during operation, and integrated fluid, temperature, and electronic monitoring/management systems. The system is intended to provide a safer, recyclable, and environmentally friendlier alternative to lithium-based batteries, with special consideration for electric vehicles and other mobile applications.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Electric vehicles (cars, buses, e-bikes) as a main or range-extending battery system
- Backup power supplies in stationary or mobile environments
- Energy storage for decentralized power grids or renewable energy systems
- Portable electronics and robotics requiring high energy density and safety
- Industrial or military equipment where non-rechargeable, robust, and easily serviceable battery modules are required
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- High safety due to low operational voltage (e.g., 48 V), reducing risk in case of accidents
- Easily replaceable anode/cathode and exchangeable electrolyte for longer useful life and faster maintenance
- Use of abundant, recyclable materials (such as silicon) for reduced environmental impact and improved sustainability
- Integrated temperature, fluid, and system monitoring/management enables optimal performance and increased efficiency
- Modular design allows for scalable battery configurations (series/parallel/grouped cells) to meet diverse power requirements
- Minimized fire and toxicity hazards compared to lithium batteries
- Designed for computer-controlled operation and easy integration into modern electronic control systems in vehicles and grids

Patent Abstract
The subject matter of the invention is a multi-cell battery and a battery system of metal-air primary cells as well as a method for operation, which is preferably controlled by a data processing system. The respective primary cell comprises an anode (A), an air cathode (B) as well as at least one separator (S) that separates the anode (A) and air cathode (B), wherein an anode (A) is in the form of an anode stack of anode plates. The electrolyte of the primary cell is exchangeable during operation of the primary cell.
