Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a device for calibrating measuring instruments for trace substance analysis, comprising a closable, atmospherically controllable, temperature-controllable diffusion chamber, wherein the diffusion chamber has at least one main gas inlet, a partial gas outlet, and at least one sampling gas outlet connected to analysis instruments, wherein the device is characterized in that it has a weighing unit in the interior of the diffusion chamber, on whose detection surface a calibration substance is applied. The invention further relates to a method for calibrating measuring instruments, comprising the steps: a. Applying a calibration substance to the detection surface of a weighing unit located in the interior of a closable, atmospherically controllable, temperature-controllable diffusion chamber b. Closing the diffusion chamber and temperature-controlling the interior to a constant temperature at which a constant amount of vapor is released from the calibration substance c. Passing a constant inert gas stream through the diffusion chamber d. Branching off a sampling gas stream from the total gas stream, which is composed of the inert gas stream and the vapor amount of the calibration substance, and supplying it to an analysis instrument and analyzing the vapor amount e. In-situ determination of the mass change of the calibration substance at constant temperature and constant inert gas stream using the weighing unit located in the interior f. Determination of the concentration of the calibration substance from the vapor analysis and the mass change according to steps d) and e).
