Method for Producing a Glass Solder Base Seal
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a method for manufacturing a flexible, detachable solder glass (glass frit) green seal using a screen printing process. The key innovation involves a specially coated screen with impermeable regions and an intermediate carrier (such as a film or foil) onto which the paste is printed, dried, and from which the resulting seal can be fully removed. The process allows the production of thick, mechanically robust, and flexible seals that can be stored and transported before final application and sintering.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Sealing and electrically insulating components in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs)
- Manufacturing of solar cells and photovoltaic modules
- Sealing of non-planar or brittle ceramic or metallic parts unable to withstand direct screen printing
- Production of pre-formed, flexible solder glass seals for later integration in electronic or electrochemical assemblies
- Mass production of standardized sealing elements for industrial applications in chemistry, electronics, and energy
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enables production of thick, flexible, and robust solder glass seals with precise and reproducible thickness
- Allows easy handling, storage, and transportation of green seals before final use
- Compatible with non-planar and fragile substrates that cannot be processed with traditional screen printing
- Minimizes waste compared to previous foil casting methods
- Supports scalable and efficient mass production with potential for automated processes
- Reduces the risk of damaging sensitive components during the seal application process
- Improves quality and consistency of sealing in advanced technological devices (like fuel cells and solar panels)

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing a solder glass green seal, wherein a paste containing solder glass powder is applied to the surface of a screen which has, on its underside and in its mesh, regions with a coating that is impermeable to the paste, and the paste is pressed through the screen onto a substrate and is then dried, and the pressure is applied to an intermediate substrate from which the dried solder glass green seal can be detached completely.
