Electrolyte for Lithium-Ion Batteries
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a specialized electrolyte composition for lithium-ion batteries, containing an electrolyte salt and at least one solvent. The solvent comprises 50% to 100% of a specific type of non-aromatic cyclic nitrile, either alone or mixed with a linear nitrile. These nitriles are chemically defined to optimize the battery's electrochemical performance.

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to an electrolyte for an electrochemical energy storage device comprising an electrolyte salt and at least one solvent, characterized in that the solvent in the range of ≥ 50 wt.-% to ≤ 100 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the solvent, comprises a non-aromatic cyclic nitrile of the formula (1) NC-R or a mixture of the cyclic nitrile of the formula (1) NC-R and a linear nitrile of the formula (2) NC-R, wherein: R is selected from the group comprising C-C cycloalkyl and/or C-C cycloalkenyl, each unsubstituted or singly or multiply substituted with at least one substituent selected from the group comprising F, C-C alkyl, C-C alkoxy and/or C-C siloxy, each unsubstituted or singly or multiply substituted with fluorine, R is selected from the group comprising alkoxyalkyl, siloxyalkyl, wherein the alkyl group in each case has 1 to 8 carbon atoms and the alkoxy and siloxy groups in each case have 1 to 4 carbon atoms and are unsubstituted or singly or multiply substituted with fluorine, and/or unsubstituted or singly or multiply fluorine-substituted C-C alkyl.
