Polyol-b-polyoxazoline Copolymers
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes novel block copolymers consisting of polyglycerol or poly(vinyl alcohol), polyoxazoline, and a hydrocarbon chain with amino or other functional groups. These copolymers can form nanoparticles that are highly biocompatible and can promote rapid healing of wounds, particularly chronic and diabetic wounds. Additionally, these materials may be used as carriers for delivering nucleic acids (such as DNA or RNA) into cells for therapeutic applications.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Wound dressings for diabetic foot ulcers and chronic non-healing wounds
- Topical therapeutic agents for accelerating tissue regeneration and skin repair
- Carriers for drug delivery, especially for nucleic acids (DNA, RNA) both in vitro and in vivo
- Advanced hydrogel materials for biomedical or cosmetic skin treatments
- Scaffolds in tissue engineering for regenerative medicine
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Highly biocompatible and non-toxic up to therapeutic concentrations
- Promote faster wound healing and regeneration of skin tissues, as proven in relevant animal models
- Can be tailored to form nanoparticles with adjustable size and functional groups
- Potential to reduce complications and healthcare costs associated with chronic wounds
- Straightforward, scalable synthesis of the materials
- Can serve as versatile carriers for gene therapy or other therapeutic agents
- Improved penetration and retention in wounded skin areas

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a copolymer comprising i) a first block chosen from a polyglycerol having a molecular weight lying in a range of from 250 Da to 20 kDa and a poly(vinyl alcohol) having a molecular weight lying in a range of from 1 kDa to 100 kDa; ii) a second block covalently bound to the first block, wherein the second block is an optionally substituted polyoxazoline; and iii) a third block covalently bound to the second block, wherein the third block is a hydrocarbon chain comprising 1 to 20 carbon atoms that are substituted with or interrupted by at least one amino group and that are optionally substituted with or interrupted by at least one entity chosen from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, hydroxyl groups, carboxyl groups, sulfur atoms, sulfhydryl groups, sulfate groups, and sulfonate groups. The invention further relates to a hydrolysis product of this copolymer in which i) -CO-R3 groups of the optionally substituted polyoxazoline of the second block that are bound to a nitrogen atom of the optionally substituted polyoxazoline are replaced by -H, wherein R3 denotes -H or a substituent of the optionally substituted polyoxazoline, and/or ii) the third block is fully or partially replaced by a proton or a hydroxyl group.
