Method for Producing Graphene Nanolayers
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a method for producing graphene nanolayers by mixing graphite with a polymerizable substance—such as natural or animal oils—forming an intercalated graphite compound, then exfoliating the graphite via in situ polymerization, and finally isolating the graphene nanolayers. The process offers a simpler and more cost-effective way to make high-quality graphene nanolayers with controlled thickness and excellent electronic, thermal, and mechanical properties.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Reinforcement additive in polymer composites to enhance mechanical and electrical performance
- Conductive inks and coatings for printed electronics
- Semiconductor material in transistors, potentially replacing silicon for ultra-fast electronics
- Thermal management materials in lubricants and greases for improved heat dissipation
- Additives in paints and coatings for anti-static or barrier properties
- Advanced sensors and nanodevices requiring high-quality graphene
- Composite materials in automotive and aerospace industries
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Simplifies the graphene nanolayer production process, making it more accessible and cost-effective compared to traditional methods
- Enables large-scale production of graphene nanolayers with controllable thickness and high yield
- Utilizes cheap and readily available natural or animal oils as the polymerizable medium
- Produces graphene nanolayers with high electronic, thermal, and mechanical performance
- Results in graphene that is more dispersible in organic solvents, improving compatibility with unpolar polymers and facilitating their use as additives
- Reduces the number of steps and complexity compared to oxidative or mechanical exfoliation methods
- Potentially lowers production costs, accelerating commercialization of graphene-enabled products

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing graphene nanolayers consisting of the following steps: a) a mixture of at least one graphite compound and at least one polymerisable substance is produced by forming at least one intercalated graphite compound with the polymerisable substance, b) in situ polymerisation of the dispersion obtained in step a) by exfoliating said at least one intercalated graphite compound, and c) insulating the graphene nano layers formed in step b).
