Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention describes a method for creating a quantum data token by grouping a specific number of qubits into ensembles, each ensemble acting as a unit of information. All qubits in an ensemble are prepared in a precisely identical quantum state. The ensemble size is selected such that, even if an unauthorized party tries to investigate a sub-ensemble (with up to half the qubits), quantum projection noise prevents them from accurately determining the quantum state, thus protecting the data token from illicit reading or copying.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Secure digital authentication tokens for high-stakes applications (e.g., government IDs, banking)
  • Physical keys for secure access control in quantum-safe systems
  • Tokens for authorizing transactions and permissions in quantum-enhanced blockchain or distributed ledger systems
  • Secure quantum information storage and transport, useful for military or critical infrastructure
  • Anti-counterfeiting measures for high-value goods using physical quantum tokens as proof of authenticity

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Enhanced security due to quantum properties—tokens cannot be copied or read without authorization, as quantum projection noise prevents accurate extraction of information from sub-ensembles.
  • Potentially simpler hardware requirements compared to systems that manipulate single qubits, because information is stored in ensembles.
  • Flexible implementation—tokens can be physical (e.g., diamond crystals with NV centers) or digital, and offer strong tamper-evidence features.
  • The method is resistant to both classical and quantum attacks, providing robust protection for sensitive data or access credentials.
  • Tokens are versatile—they can be used in both digital communication and as physically transferable quantum keys.

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a method for generating a quantum data token on the basis of a system with a plurality of qubits. The invention is characterized in that a respective number (N) of qubits are combined in order to produce an ensemble and form an information unit, wherein each of the individual qubits of the ensemble is brought to precisely one specified identical quantum state, and the number (N) of qubits in an ensemble is selected such that the quantum state of a sub-ensemble, which has at most half of the qubits of the ensemble, cannot be determined due to quantum projection noise.
