Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention describes a device and method for generating a non-thermal plasma jet, specifically designed to work within small or difficult-to-access cavities, such as those within the human or animal body. The device features two concentric conduits that channel different gases: a feed gas, which is ionized to form the plasma jet by electrodes, and a surrounding curtain gas, which shapes and confines the plasma stream. The arrangement allows for flexible, precise delivery and control of the plasma jet and is suitable for integration within endoscopic instruments.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Sterilization or disinfection of internal body cavities and minimally invasive surgical sites.
  • Surface treatment of hard-to-reach areas within medical devices or implants.
  • Decontamination or microbial inactivation during medical or dental procedures.
  • Material surface modification or cleaning in microelectronic or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Precise delivery of plasma jets for laboratory analysis or research involving confined spaces.

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Enables plasma treatment inside small, confined, or difficult-to-access spaces, improving sterilization and disinfection efficiency.
  • The non-thermal nature of the plasma jet minimizes thermal damage to sensitive tissues or materials.
  • Flexible design allows for easy integration with endoscopes and insertion into curved or narrow pathways.
  • Curtain gas technology spatially confines the plasma jet, enhancing precision and safety by preventing unwanted plasma spread or damage.
  • Reduces risks of electrical flashover, providing safer operation in living tissues or delicate environments.
  • Can be produced as a cost-effective, simple-to-manufacture, and versatile tool adaptable to various medical and industrial applications.
