Method, Plasma Ignition Device and System for Bio-Decontamination, Disinfection or Sterilization of Objects with a Reactive Gas
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention relates to a method, plasma ignition device, and system for the biological decontamination, disinfection, or sterilization of objects using a reactive gas generated via plasma ignition. The system employs a specialized plasma ignition device—potentially powered by a household microwave oven—to generate a high-density reactive gas from process gases like air. The generated gas is used to fill a container in which the objects are placed for decontamination. The system is designed to be simple, cost-effective, portable, and efficient, aiming to reduce reliance on expensive, high-energy, or hazardous sterilization methods.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Sterilization of medical instruments and surgical tools in hospitals or clinics.
- Disinfection of pharmaceutical products and packaging.
- Decontamination of food packaging and production equipment to ensure food safety.
- Portable sterilization in field hospitals, emergency response, or remote locations with limited resources.
- On-site sterilization of laboratory equipment or containers.
- Disinfection of liquid pharmaceuticals or beverages by treating filled bottles.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Reduces the need for expensive or toxic sterilizing chemicals.
- Can be powered by commonly available household microwaves, making it accessible and inexpensive.
- Portable and suitable for use in areas with limited infrastructure, such as during disease outbreaks or in developing countries.
- Enables gas-based sterilization of complex-shaped or sensitive objects that cannot withstand heat or radiation.
- Minimizes mechanical complexity by allowing open-container processes and reducing the requirements for sealed chambers or doors.
- Can automate decontamination processes, increasing throughput and efficiency.
- Allows for on-site production and application of the sterilant, reducing transport and storage issues for sterilization agents.
- Improved control over sterilization parameters such as exposure time, gas composition, and humidity for optimal results.

Patent Abstract
