Device for reading spectral selective measuring feeder to monitor temperature of power transformer, has evaluation unit producing output signal by based on ratio of measuring values determined with operating parameter values
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention is a device that uses a light source and an evaluation unit to accurately read and monitor the temperature of a power transformer. It does so by adjusting specific operating parameters (like settings of an LED), measuring the light emitted, and calculating temperature based on the spectral characteristics of that light. The results are stored and analyzed to produce an output signal indicating the transformer's temperature.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Real-time temperature monitoring of power transformers in electrical substations
- Critical temperature surveillance for transformer maintenance and safety applications
- Integration with smart grid systems for enhanced transformer diagnostics
- Use in industrial environments to monitor other equipment requiring precise temperature control
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improves the accuracy of temperature measurement by compensating for light source variability
- Enables continuous and automated transformer temperature surveillance to prevent overheating
- Supports predictive maintenance by providing reliable temperature data
- Reduces risk of transformer failure and prolongs equipment lifespan
- Can be seamlessly integrated into existing power monitoring and control systems

Patent Abstract
The device has an evaluation unit (12) for adjusting an operating parameter of a light source i.e. LED (2), to different operating parameter values. The evaluation unit determines measuring values associated with the different operating parameter values, where the measuring values are dependent upon an emission spectrum of light emitted by the source. The unit comprises a storage unit (13), and the values are stored in the storage unit. An output signal (14) is produced by the unit based on a ratio of the measuring values determined with the parameter values of the source. An independent claim is also included for a method for reading a spectral selective measuring feeder.
