Guide Device for Biopsy Needle
AISimple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention is a guide device for biopsy needles that aids in accurately positioning and directing the needle at a specific injection site on a patient's body. It consists of a base and a movable needle holder, which can be adjusted in two degrees of freedom such that regardless of the change in position, the needle always targets the same entry point. This design allows the operator to alter the insertion angle without changing the puncture site.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Medical biopsies using ultrasound, CT, or MRI guidance
- Percutaneous needle procedures in radiology departments
- Single-use needle guidance for sterile interventions
- Remote-controlled needle positioning for confined environments like MRI scanners
- Training tools for surgical or radiological staff on needle placement
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improves accuracy of needle placement by maintaining a fixed injection site while offering flexible insertion angles
- Simplifies needle alignment for the operator, reducing risk of human error and procedure time
- Enhances workflow and comfort for physicians during imaging-guided biopsies
- Adaptable for use in compact or difficult-to-access imaging environments such as MRI suites
- Supports both vertical and lateral needle insertion, increasing versatility
- Disposable design minimizes infection risk and removes the need for sterilization
- Markers make device position easily visible in imaging, assisting precise setup and monitoring

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a guide device (1) for guiding and positioning a biopsy needle (100) at an injection site (101) on the body of a patient, wherein the guide device (1) has a base (2) and a needle holder (3), on which the biopsy needle (100) is guided along the longitudinal extent of same, wherein the position of the needle holder (3) relative to the base (2) can be changed. The invention proposes that the position of the needle holder (3) relative to the base can be changed in only two degrees of freedom (4, 5), wherein the biopsy needle (100) guided on the needle holder (3) always pierces the same injection site (101) when the position of the needle holder (3) relative to the base (2) changes.
