Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention describes a method and apparatus for accurately measuring the speed of gas or fluid flow using a temperature-dependent electric resistor sensor. It introduces a heating filament positioned on the opposite side of the carrier substrate to prevent heat loss from the sensor to the substrate, therefore improving measurement accuracy by ensuring more heat energy is available for convection into the fluid.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Monitoring air or gas flow rates in industrial processes
  • Measuring fluid velocity in HVAC systems
  • Flow-rate monitoring in medical equipment (e.g., respiratory devices)
  • Automotive airflow or liquid flow sensors for engine management
  • Environmental monitoring stations for water or air currents detection

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Improved accuracy of flow measurements due to minimized heat loss into the substrate
  • Greater sensitivity and reliability in a range of fluid or gas flow conditions
  • Potential for use in compact or miniaturized sensor designs
  • Enhanced energy efficiency by reducing unnecessary heat dissipation
  • Versatility in application across various industries (industrial, medical, automotive, etc.)

Patent Abstract

Based on ever available substrate heat conductivity, even though low, there is a heat energy discharge from a sensor into a carrier substrate. This can be prevented by fitting a heating filament on the opposite side of the carrier substrate. As a result of its heat energy, heat flow is reduced/interrupted from the sensor into the substrate so that more heat energy is available for convection. An independent claim is also included for a circuit structure for measuring speed of flow in a fluid by means of a sensor with a temperature-dependent electric resistor in thermal contact with the fluid.
