Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention provides a sensor device that can be integrated into the tubing of an oil well to measure various parameters (such as viscosity, density, phase distribution, and chemical composition) of the fluids flowing inside. The device combines dielectric and acoustic sensors to obtain real-time data without affecting the structural integrity or fluid flow of the oil well. The sensor system enables continuous remote monitoring and control of oil production based on measured fluid parameters.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Real-time monitoring of oil well fluid characteristics (density, viscosity, phase distribution, chemical composition)
  • Early detection of operational risks in oil production (such as unwanted water or gas production)
  • Automated control of oil well production (valve and pump operation) based on fluid analysis
  • Multi-point monitoring for improved field management by deploying sensors at various well depths or multiple wells
  • Providing essential data for short-term and long-term modeling of oil field behavior

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Non-intrusive integration—does not compromise tubing integrity or reduce fluid flow
  • Allows accurate, multi-parameter real-time monitoring directly downhole
  • Enables proactive and automated control to avoid hazardous or inefficient operating conditions
  • Improves safety by allowing rapid shutdown or adjustment in response to detected issues
  • Enhances data availability for predictive analytics and operational optimization
  • Modular and scalable—sensor devices can be deployed as needed across a field
  • Flexible data transmission options (wired, optical fiber, wireless) for different deployment scenarios

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a sensor device (2) for measuring at least one parameter of an fluid (F) flowing inside an oil well, comprising: a tubing (16) which is connectable at both ends (24, 26) to parts (12, 14) of the tubing (10) of the oil well (1) with an inner cavity (28), at least one dielectric sensor (30) arranged in a recess (32) that is integrated into an inner surface (34) of the tubing, at least one acoustic sensor (38) arranged at an outer surface (36) of the tubing, and a control and transmission unit (44) for controlling the at least one acoustic sensor and the at least one dielectric sensor and for transmitting sensor data to a surface unit (46). Furthermore, the invention relates to a sensor system, a method for determining at least one parameter of a fluid flowing through a tubing and a method for controlling of an oil well based on at least one determined parameter of a fluid flowing through a tubing.
