Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention is a modular patient lounge chair designed for both sitting and lying transport of a patient, and for use during MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scans. The chair consists of an adjustable seat/bed unit and a mobile base. The seat/bed unit can be detached from the transport base and comprises several segments that can be adjusted into either sitting or lying positions, ensuring support for the patient's back, seat, and legs. The unit is made from materials compatible with MRI machines, making it safe for use in such environments.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Transporting patients within hospitals, especially between wards and MRI rooms
  • Using the chair for patient positioning during MRI scans
  • Accommodating patients who need to be transferred between different diagnostic or treatment areas while remaining seated or lying down
  • Temporarily storing or positioning patients in a comfortable manner awaiting procedures involving MRI
  • Facilitating easier movement and adjustment of immobile or fragile patients

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Allows for flexible patient positioning (sitting or lying) tailored to comfort and medical needs
  • Enables safe transport of patients within healthcare facilities
  • MRI compatibility ensures direct use in MRI suites without the need for patient transfer to a different bed or table, minimizing patient movement and risk
  • Modular design permits easy detachment and adjustment, improving workflow for medical staff
  • Improves patient comfort and reduces the risk of injury during transport and imaging procedures

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a patient reclining chair (1) for optionally seated or recumbent transport of a patient (P) and for recumbent positioning of the patient (P) during magnetic resonance tomography (MRT), wherein the patient reclining chair (1) is designed modularly from an adjustable sitting-reclining unit (2) and a mobile transport unit (3), wherein the sitting-reclining unit (2) can be arranged on the transport unit (3) and fastened thereto as well as detachably separated from the transport unit (3), wherein the sitting-reclining unit (2) has at least three sitting-reclining segments (21, 22, 23, 24, 25) arranged one behind the other in a longitudinal direction, which are selectively adjustable at least into a sitting position or a reclining position for the patient (P), wherein the sitting-reclining segments (21, 22, 23, 24, 25) comprise at least in the sitting position a back segment (22) for supporting the back of the patient (P), a sitting segment (23) on which the patient (P) sits, and a leg segment (24) for supporting the legs of the patient (P), wherein adjacent sitting-reclining segments (21, 22, 23, 24, 25) are each articulated to one another via at least one joint (26) in an adjustable manner, wherein the sitting-reclining unit (2) is angulable at least in the reclining position by adjustment of one or more sitting-reclining segments (21, 22, 23, 24, 25), wherein at least the sitting-reclining unit (2) is designed to be MRT-compatible.
