Module Having an Interactive Representation of a Search Query for a Computer on a Display Unit for a User
AISimple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes an interactive search module for computers, which intuitively guides users during information retrieval. When a user enters a search query, the module displays initial results. The user can select part of a search result (a 'partial match'), which automatically triggers a refined, context-based follow-up search. The results from these refined searches are visually distinguished and organized on the display, allowing users to explore information paths, backtrack, and view search trails in an organized and ergonomic manner.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Academic or corporate research platforms to simplify and visualize search refinement processes.
- Search engines and knowledge-base systems where complex, exploratory searches take place.
- User interfaces for information retrieval in digital libraries, patent searches, or legal document review.
- Exploratory data analysis tools for business intelligence teams.
- Integrated search assistants for devices like smart TVs, vehicles, or kiosks (e.g., museums, airports).
- Assistive search systems for visually impaired users, utilizing previews and alternative interface modalities.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Reduces cognitive load by allowing users to refine searches without manually entering new queries.
- Improves efficiency and satisfaction in finding relevant information due to intuitive, visual search paths.
- Supports exploratory searches, helping users discover information domains they may not have initially considered.
- Allows tracking and revisiting of previous search paths, preventing redundant or lost research efforts.
- Customizable and adaptable display layout enhances visibility, accessibility, and user ergonomics across multiple device types.
- Facilitates collaboration and sharing of search history or trails among users in team environments.

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a module having an interactive representation of a search query on a display unit for a user of a computer, comprising: a search module providing an input of a search, based on which the search module carries out a basic search; the display unit optically displaying a search result of the basic search; a selection option, which displays a partial match of the search result and allows a selection of the partial match; a complementary partial match search, which, once the partial match has been selected, automatically executes an additional search by way of the search module, wherein a content of the partial match feeds in an automated manner into the additional search to complement same; and an array of a result of the complementary partial match search on the display unit, which is different from a display of the search result of the search on the display unit. The invention further relates to a method, and to a computer program product.
