Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This patent describes an improved Savonius turbine equipped with two uniquely shaped L-like blades, each consisting of a longer and a shorter curved portion. The turbine also incorporates an obstacle and deflector specifically positioned near the blades to optimize wind flow interaction, thereby enhancing the turbine's efficiency.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Small-scale wind energy generation for residential or commercial buildings
  • Off-grid power solutions in remote or rural areas
  • Integration into urban environments where low-noise, compact wind turbines are needed
  • Portable wind power devices for temporary installations, such as events or emergency relief zones
  • Renewable energy applications in low-wind regions where traditional turbines are less effective

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Improved energy capture due to optimized blade and airflow design
  • Potential for higher efficiency in low-wind conditions compared to standard Savonius turbines
  • Simple, robust construction that may reduce maintenance and operational costs
  • Flexibility in installation orientation, including both vertical and horizontal arrangements
  • Suitability for various environments, including urban areas, thanks to reduced noise and compact structure

Patent Abstract

The invention is related to a Savonius turbine (1) having exactly a first and a second blade whereby each of said first and second blade has a shape comprising a first portion and a second portion whereby the first and the second portion together define said blade (5), whereby the first portion is longer than the second portion thereby forming together an L-like overall geometry of the blade, whereby the first portion is aftached to a vertically or horizontally arranged shaft (4) of said Savonius turbine (1), and said first and said second portion each comprises a curved geometry being different from each other, whereby one obstacle (2) and one deflector (3) are arranged nearby to the blades each influencing the flow of wind used to actuate said Savonius turbine (1), wherein said obstacle (2) is arranged nearby to said first, returning blade whereas said deflector (3) is arranged nearby to said second, advancing blade.
