Guidewire for Guiding an Object to a Destination in a Hollow Structure of a Human or Animal Body
AISimple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a specialized guidewire designed for use within the hollow structures of human or animal bodies. The key innovation is the guidewire's tip, which features multiple bends or angles that are not in the same plane, allowing it to more easily navigate and access narrow or complex anatomical pathways. The guidewire is intended to help guide objects like catheters or medical instruments to precise locations, making access and cannulation of small ducts, vessels, or blocked passages simpler and safer.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Guiding catheters to specific locations in medical procedures such as angiography, endoscopy, and ERCP.
- Accessing small or complex anatomical structures like bile ducts, pancreatic ducts, and blood vessels.
- Cannulation or probing of strictures (narrowed passages) and blockages within hollow organs or vessels.
- Guiding minimally invasive interventions such as stent placement or biopsy within small ducts.
- Veterinary medicine procedures requiring instrument navigation in animal bodies.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improved ability to navigate and reach small, tortuous, or obstructed pathways within the body due to multidirectional bends at the guidewire tip.
- Reduced risk of accidental injury to delicate structures through better steerability and flexibility.
- Enhanced precision and control during catheter placement and other minimally invasive interventions.
- Adaptable tip configuration allows customization for various anatomical challenges and patient needs.
- Hydrophilic/polymer coating reduces friction, making navigation easier and further reducing patient trauma.

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to guide wires for guiding an object to a target location in a hollow structure of a human or animal body. The guide wires are characterized in particular by the fact that cannulation/probing of small hollow structures in human and animal bodies can be easily carried out by means of the guide wire. For this purpose, the end region of the guide wire has a first bend in the direction toward its end and, spaced apart from the first bend, at least a second bend. The bends are not located in the same spatial plane. Furthermore, the curve is designed such that the end of the guide wire points in the direction of the extended axis of symmetry of the guide wire, points in the direction away from the extended axis of symmetry of the guide wire, or is arranged in the extended axis of symmetry. The guide wire is thus a multiply bent/kinked guide wire. These are used as medical guide wires in a variety of procedures for guiding catheters or other devices to target locations within a patient's body.
