Method for determining a spatial characteristic value of an object, computer program, and device comprising an imaging examination apparatus
AISimple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a method for determining a spatial parameter of an object using an imaging device, particularly an MRI machine. The system uses a receiver coil to gather electromagnetic field signals and process them into at least two-dimensional images. A key feature is the use of a movable tracking marker within the scanner's detection area, which appears in the created images, aiding in precise localization.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Tracking the exact position of medical instruments during MRI-guided surgeries or biopsies
- Precise patient positioning for consistent imaging in repeated examinations
- Monitoring and adjusting implants or foreign objects inside the body during MRI scans
- Scientific or industrial imaging tasks where localization of moving parts relative to the imaging device is crucial
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Increases accuracy of spatial localization in MRI and other imaging procedures
- Enhances safety and effectiveness of minimally invasive interventions
- Enables better repeatability and comparability of imaging sessions by reducing positioning errors
- Provides real-time feedback for instrument tracking or object monitoring during scans

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a method for determining a spatial characteristic value of an object during operation of an imaging examination device, in particular a magnetic resonance tomography device, which has a receiving coil for receiving electromagnetic fields, wherein image data for at least a two-dimensional image representation (10) of the surroundings of the receiving coil are generated from the signals of the receiving coil, which are generated when receiving the electromagnetic fields, wherein at least one tracking marker that can be detected by the receiving coil and is movable relative to the receiving coil is arranged in the detection range of the receiving coil, wherein the at least one tracking marker is imaged in the generated image representation. The invention also relates to a computer program for executing such a method as well as a device with an imaging examination device for sectional examination of a patient.
