Method and Device for Removing a Coating from a Surface of a Base Material
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a method and device for removing a coating containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) from the surface of a base material. The coating is heated to a specific temperature using a first laser beam, causing the PCBs to decompose. The decomposition process is monitored in real-time via laser-induced fluorescence using a second laser beam, which excites the decomposition products, and an optical detector captures the resulting fluorescence to ensure complete removal and safety.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Decontamination of industrial equipment previously coated with PCB-containing materials.
- Safe removal of hazardous PCB coatings from building materials during renovation or demolition.
- Restoration and recycling of metal parts by removing toxic surface coatings.
- Environmental remediation of contaminated sites with PCB-laden structures or machinery.
- Quality control processes for verifying removal of hazardous coatings in manufacturing.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enables precise and controlled removal of toxic PCB coatings.
- Minimizes risk of environmental contamination and human exposure during removal.
- Provides real-time monitoring to ensure thorough decomposition of hazardous substances.
- Reduces the need for manual scraping or abrasive methods, enhancing worker safety.
- Allows efficient treatment of complex surfaces and hard-to-reach areas.

Patent Abstract
