Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines runden Hohlprofils durch Umformung bei dem i) eine Platine als Ausgangswerkstück bereit gestellt wird, ii) ein Gesenkwerkzeug bereit gestellt wird, iii) die Platine im Gesenkwerkzeug positioniert wird, iv) die Platine durch das Gesenkwerkzeug umgeformt wird, wobei die im Gesenkwerkzeug befindliche Platine erwärmt wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Gesenkwerkzeug erwärmt wird, so dass vom Gesenkwerkzeug Wärme auf die Platine durch Wärmeleitung übertragen wird und die Platine derart erwärmt wird, sowie eine Vorrichtung zur Herstellung eines runden Hohlprofils durch Umformung, umfassend ein Gesenkwerkzeug mit einem Obergesenk und einem Untergesenk, wobei das Obergesenk und/ oder das Untergesenk mit einer Erwärmungseinrichtung zur Erwärmung einer im Gesenkwerkzeug platzierten Platine ausgestattet ist.
