Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This patent describes a method and device for improving the fixed-bed gasification of solid fuels by allowing the direct injection of mechanically compacted, fine-grained or pulverized fuels into the fixed bed, where they are gasified together with coarse fuels. The injection is done without intermediate storage and utilizes condensable vapor to aid in compaction, increasing the efficiency and flexibility of the gasification process.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Gasification plants converting biomass or coal into syngas for power generation or chemical synthesis
  • Waste-to-energy facilities processing mixed solid fuels efficiently
  • Industrial production of hydrogen, methane, or other valuable gases from solid feedstocks
  • Decentralized or small-scale energy production units using diverse solid waste streams as fuel

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Enhanced efficiency by enabling simultaneous gasification of fine and coarse fuels
  • Allows utilization of fine or pulverized fuels that are difficult to process with conventional gasifiers
  • Reduces the need for intermediate storage, simplifying logistics and streamlining operation
  • Improved integration of diverse fuel types, increasing feedstock flexibility and reducing waste
  • Potential for higher throughput and energy yield compared to traditional methods

Patent Abstract

The method for fixed-bed gasification of solid fuel with oxygen and water vapor-containing gasification agents using a fixed-bed gasifier equipped with a head-side supply unit to supply coarse-grained fuel, a raw gas flue, an ash drain or slag bath flue, a supply for gasification agents and a fixed bed, where the fuels are mechanically compacted, fine-grained and/or pulverized fuels without intermediate storage in the fixed bed gasifier to be injected into the fixed bed below the surface and gasified with the coarse fuels, is claimed. The method for fixed-bed gasification of solid fuel with oxygen and water vapor-containing gasification agents using a fixed-bed gasifier equipped with a head-side supply unit to supply coarse-grained fuel, a raw gas flue, an ash drain or slag bath flue, a supply for gasification agents and a fixed bed, where the fuels are mechanically compacted, fine-grained and/or pulverized fuels without intermediate storage in the fixed-bed gasifier to be injected into the fixed bed and gasified with the coarse fuels, is claimed. Condensable vapor is used for mechanical compaction of fine-grained and/or dust-like fuels are injected in secondary fuel inputs distributed on a secondary input plane over an outer perimeter of the gasifier. An independent claim is included for a device for gasification of solid fuel with oxygen and water- vapor-containing gasification agents.
