Method for Producing Thin-Walled Steel Castings from Highly Alloyed Steels with TRIP/TWIP Properties
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a cost-effective method for producing thin-walled steel castings made from high-alloy steels that display TRIP (Transformation Induced Plasticity) and TWIP (Twinning Induced Plasticity) properties. The process includes casting the steel part, followed by diffusion annealing at high temperatures before cold-forming the part to its final dimensions. This enables the production of cast parts with wall thicknesses under 6 mm.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Automotive components that require high strength and ductility with lightweight construction, such as car body parts or structural reinforcements.
- Manufacturing of thin-walled structural components in construction or machinery.
- Fabrication of safety-critical parts in transportation or heavy equipment.
- Production of specialized parts for energy, aerospace, or defense industries, where both strength and formability are crucial.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enables cost-effective production of thin-walled steel castings with high mechanical performance.
- Improves strength and ductility due to TRIP/TWIP properties, enhancing safety and reliability.
- Reduces material usage and weight, supporting lightweight design goals.
- Expands the application of advanced high-strength steels to more complex, thin-walled geometries than previously possible.
- Allows for precise control over final part dimensions and properties.

Patent Abstract
