Method and Apparatus for Coal Pyrolysis
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a method and device for coal pyrolysis using resistance heating. Moist raw coal is moved at a controlled speed and porosity through a heater equipped with electrically powered electrode rings, which dry the coal by applying heat directly through resistance. The device offers options for different configurations of cathode and anode rings with larger surfaces and uses an auger for horizontal mass transport at the heater output.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Industrial coal processing for producing coke or synthetic gases
- Upgrading of raw, moist coal in power plants or chemical industries
- Production of cleaner-burning solid fuels
- Integration into advanced energy systems for coal utilization
- Processing low-grade or wet coal deposits in mining operations
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enables efficient, volume-based drying of moist coal
- Improves energy efficiency through direct resistance heating
- Allows better control over the coal’s speed and porosity during processing
- Reduces need for pre-drying and handling steps
- Adaptable electrode configurations optimize heat transfer for various coal types
- Supports continuous operation with mechanical mass transport (auger)

Patent Abstract
