Fluid Distribution Device for a Gas-Liquid Contactor, Gas-Liquid Contactor and Method for Adding a Gas to a Liquid
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a fluid distribution device and a gas-liquid contactor designed to efficiently introduce a gas into a liquid, particularly in processes such as water treatment and ozonation. The system uses specialized hollow-fiber membrane technology combined with a novel fluid distribution plate to ensure optimal, clog-resistant, and energy-efficient mixing of gas (such as ozone) into a flowing liquid stream. The approach allows fine control of gas entry without bubble formation and enables separated flow paths for gas and liquid, thus improving the overall mixing and reaction efficiency.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Ozonation of drinking water, wastewater, and process water for purification and disinfection
- Industrial water treatment facilities to oxidize organic contaminants
- Production of ultrapure water for pharmaceutical or semiconductor industries
- Desalination plants requiring efficient gas-liquid contact systems
- Integration in chemical reactors needing precise gas dosing into liquid streams
- Retrofit in existing pipeline systems for improved water quality or process upgrades
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Highly efficient gas transfer into liquids, increasing reaction and mixing effectiveness
- Reduces operational energy costs by optimizing flow patterns and minimizing pressure loss
- Prevents clogging and fouling, even with liquids containing particulates
- Allows bubble-free operation to avoid foam and loss of valuable gases
- Compact, modular design fits easily into existing pipeline systems, saving space
- Improves safety and lifetime of ozone generators by enabling recovery and reuse of oxygen from off-gas
- Enables high-quality water treatment with minimal by-products or secondary pollution

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a fluid distribution device for a gas-liquid contactor (1), said device having a first side (18), a second side (19) and a plurality of through-holes (8) extending from the first side (18) to the second side (19), through which holes a first fluid (4) can flow. The invention is characterised in that the fluid distribution device (7, 13) further comprises an interior, which is delimited by the first side (18) and the second side (19) and which is sealed in a fluid-tight manner in relation to the through-holes (8), a plurality of openings (10), which connect the interior to the second side (19), and a fluid connection (14, 15), through which a second fluid (12) can be introduced into or evacuated from the interior. The invention also relates to a gas-liquid contactor having a fluid distribution device of this type and to a method for adding a gas to a liquid.
