Apparatus for Obtaining Samples of a Fluid and Method for Cleaning Such Apparatus
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes an apparatus and method for obtaining fluid samples and then efficiently cleaning the sampling system to prevent contamination. The system consists of a network of tubes, pumps, valves, and containers that allow for multiple samples to be distributed into separate containers. Importantly, the device includes an automated cleaning process using cleaning fluids and controlled airflow that thoroughly cleans the internal tubing after each sampling operation by creating pressure changes and airflow, thereby ensuring sample purity.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Clinical diagnostic laboratories to collect and store multiple biological fluid samples for analysis.
- Pharmaceutical or chemical testing facilities requiring contamination-free liquid sampling.
- Food and beverage industry for routine quality control sampling.
- Environmental monitoring stations sampling water or other fluids for pollutants.
- Industrial process control applications monitoring fluid properties or contaminants.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Greatly reduces cross-contamination between samples due to effective automated cleaning.
- Allows collection and distribution of multiple fluid samples efficiently and safely.
- Minimizes manual cleaning, saving labor and ensuring more consistent cleaning results.
- Flexible tubing and disposable design support high hygiene standards and easy maintenance.
- Pressure and airflow cleaning provide superior removal of residues compared to conventional rinsing.
- Supports sterile operation with in-line filters and valve barriers for sensitive applications.

Patent Abstract
An apparatus for obtaining samples of a fluid comprising: a sample fluid container comprising fluid to be sampled, a first pump in fluid communication with said sample container, a first valve arranged between said sample fluid container and said first pump, a primary fluid conduit tube connected to said pump, comprising along its length one or more branches to secondary fluid con-duit tubes being in fluid communication with said primary fluid conduit tube, a waste container connected to an end of said primary fluid conduit tube, a second valve arranged between said primary fluid conduit tube and said waste container, and a second pump connected to said waste container that can generate a low pressure in waste container and in said primary fluid conduit tube.
