Method for online distribution of DRM contents
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a method for distributing digital rights management (DRM)-protected content online by splitting the content into identical data segments, which are then exchanged between different user devices (terminals) via a server using a peer-to-peer approach. Rights information is delivered from the server or a third party to the requesting user. The user assembles the DRM-protected content from the received segments. The segments can be separated again for further distribution if needed.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Distributing copyrighted music, movies, or ebooks with DRM protection over online platforms
- Enabling peer-to-peer sharing of licensed software within a secure DRM framework
- Streaming video content with controlled rights management and sharing ability
- Secure document distribution and collaboration in enterprises or educational contexts
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Efficient use of network resources by enabling peer-to-peer sharing, reducing server loads
- Maintains strong DRM protection while allowing flexible and scalable content distribution
- Supports secure rights management and enforcement to protect intellectual property
- Allows easy assembly and re-separation of content segments for redistribution, improving scalability

Patent Abstract
The method involves exchanging identical data segments with respect to distribution of same contents within different digital rights management (DRM)- file between terminals by a server in a peer-to-peer manner. Right characteristics specific for the DRM-file are transmitted from the server or from a third terminal to a user, who requires the content. The segments containing the content and the segments received from the server are merged together on the DRM-file. The data segments are separated from each other when a future new peer-to-peer transmission of the data segments is required. An independent claim is also included for a computer program product for implementing a digital rights management- content distributing method.
