Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention relates to a membrane filter made primarily with cement-bound, porous materials like micro-concrete. It is designed to separate mixtures of substances, especially gases of different molar masses. The production method allows for easy and cost-effective adjustment of pore size, leading to a membrane that is mechanically strong, temperature-resistant, and inexpensive to manufacture compared to traditional ceramic membranes.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Purification and separation of gases (e.g., separating hydrogen from carbon dioxide in gas mixtures) in industrial processes.
  • Upgrading biogas or syngas by enriching valuable components such as hydrogen.
  • Air separation for industrial or environmental applications.
  • Gas filtration in fuel cell technology to provide purer fuels like hydrogen.
  • Chemical processing requiring selective gas separation or conditioning.
  • Water treatment or filtration where adjustable pore sizes are beneficial.

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Lower production costs compared to conventional ceramic membrane filters.
  • Good mechanical strength and durability, suitable for industrial use.
  • Excellent temperature resistance, enabling use in various harsh conditions.
  • Adjustable pore size during manufacturing for high application flexibility.
  • Avoidance of the brittleness typical of ceramic membranes.
  • Potential for modular or scalable integration (filters can be connected in series or clusters).

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a membrane filter (1) comprising a moulded body (2) for separating substance mixtures, especially gas mixtures (5) of different molar masses, and to a method for producing such a membrane filter (1). By providing the membrane filter (1) with a cement-bound porous material, especially micro-concrete, as an essential material component having a rock graining with a small particle size, a membrane filter is created, combining low production costs, a good mechanical loadability, and a good temperature resistance. The pore size can be approximately randomly adjusted at a low cost during the production.
