Apparatus for Picking Up Particles from the Surface of a Water System
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a device designed to collect and separate particles, particularly pollution or dirt, from the surface of water bodies like lakes or seas. The device features a floating body containing a particle separation chamber, with adjustable inflow and outflow openings controlled by specialized flaps. These features enable effective and controlled entrance and exit of water, helping to isolate and gather contaminants efficiently from the water surface.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Cleaning oil spills from ocean or lake surfaces
- Removing floating debris or dirt from harbors, rivers, and canals
- Mitigating the impact of industrial pollution in coastal areas
- Emergency environmental cleanup after maritime accidents
- Routine maintenance of recreational water bodies (e.g., marinas, lakes)
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Efficient removal of surface pollutants and floating particles from water bodies
- Adjustable inflow/outflow flaps allow flexible response to varying environmental and operational conditions
- Reduces environmental impact by quickly containing and separating pollutants like oil
- Simplified mechanical design increases reliability and reduces maintenance compared to previous solutions
- Adaptable to different vessel hull forms and scalable for various body sizes and applications

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to an apparatus for picking up particles from the surface of a water system, in particular dirt particles, comprising a floating body (1) in which a particle separation space (8) is formed, into which particle-containing water can flow through an inflow opening (7) and from which water that has at least partially been freed of the particles can flow out through an outflow opening (9), wherein the inflow opening (7) is provided with an inflow flap device and the outflow opening (9) is provided with an outflow flap device for opening and closing.
