Safety Belt Device
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention relates to an improved four-point seatbelt device for vehicles, featuring an adjustable mechanism that allows the shoulder and lap belts to move laterally (width direction) along with specially designed rings and a motorized or mechanical drive system. This movement brings the shoulder belts closer together or further apart as needed, making it easier for passengers to get in and out of the seat, while maintaining safety and reliable occupant restraint during use.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Automobiles, particularly in front seats or sports vehicles requiring higher occupant restraint
- Racing cars needing advanced four-point seatbelt safety systems
- Special vehicles such as ambulances or emergency vehicles where quick entry and exit are critical
- Aircraft or military vehicles with demanding occupant safety and mobility needs
- Public transportation (e.g., buses for disabled passengers) requiring enhanced accessibility
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enhanced ease of getting in and out of the vehicle by moving obstruction belts away from the entry path when not in use
- Improved safety and comfort due to balanced four-point restraint, reducing potential injury compared to traditional three-point systems
- Reduction in operational force needed for fastening the belt, especially with motor assistance—beneficial for elderly or less able users
- Flexible adjustment to suit different occupant sizes and heights, offering a custom fit
- Simplified installation and fewer assembly components when the system is integrated within the seat, reducing manufacturing complexity and cost

Patent Abstract
A seatbelt device includes a buckle (44) to which a first shoulder belt (S1) and a first lap belt (L1) are fixed, a tongue (45) to which a second shoulder belt (S2) and a second lap belt (L2) are fixed, a driving mechanism (31) driving the first lap belt (L1) and the second lap belt (L2) in a width direction of a vehicle body, a first ring (16) through which the first shoulder belt (S1) is inserted; and a second ring (26) through which the second shoulder belt (S2) is inserted, wherein the driving mechanism (31) drives the first ring (16) and the second ring (26) so as to be close to or away from each other when the first lap belt (L1) and the second lap belt (L2) are driven in the width direction of the vehicle body.
