Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention introduces a method and device for joining metal and plastic components using a clinching process. The process involves placing a ring in a mold that matches the component's shape and then using a punch to join the metal and plastic parts, with the plastic enclosing the ring during the process. The invention also covers the resulting joined component.

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for producing a metal-plastic connection by means of clinching as well as an associated component, wherein the metal-plastic connection is in the form of a component consisting of a first joining partner in the form of a plastic and a second joining partner in the form of a metal. Prior to the joining process, a ring is inserted into a die reproducing the geometry of the component such that the joining partners rest on the ring, wherein subsequently by means of a punch, which moves through the inner opening of the ring into the die, the first and second joining partners are joined. The plastic of the first joining partner encloses the ring during the joining process.
