Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This patent describes a rheometer, an instrument designed to measure the flow properties and viscosity of non-Newtonian fluids like polymer melts. It features an inlet and outlet for the liquid, and utilizes tracer particles within the liquid to help determine the flow rate using sensor technologies such as laser doppler or ultrasonic doppler velocimeters. The system accurately measures the pressure difference and flow rate to determine the fluid's flow curve and viscosity function.

Patent Abstract

The rheometer has an inlet (1.1) and an outlet (1.2) for flowing through liquid. Two measured variables are determined in the form of a pressure leap between the inlet and the outlet and in the form of flow rate. The flow rates are determined using particles such as tracer particles, present in the liquid. A device for measuring the flow rates is attached to a flow channel (1). The device for measuring the flow rates is a local filter sensor or laser doppler velocimeter or an ultrasonic doppler velocimeter. An independent claim is also included for an evaluation method for determining flow curve and viscosity function of optical transparent Newtonian and non Newtonian fluid.
