Brake caliper, has base body and strip-shaped reinforcement element smeared together, where base body is made of light alloy or light metal alloy, and extruded aluminum, zinc, magnesium, chromium and copper alloy
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a brake caliper design where a lightweight base body made from alloys such as aluminum, zinc, magnesium, chromium, or copper is reinforced with a high-strength steel strip. The reinforcement element is integrated using a forging process to improve the strength and performance of the brake caliper without significantly increasing its weight.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Automotive braking systems for cars, trucks, and motorcycles
- Lightweight braking systems in electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles
- Application in bicycles or lightweight mobility devices requiring strong but lightweight brakes
- Performance or racing vehicles where weight reduction and brake strength are critical
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Reduces the overall weight of the brake caliper, improving vehicle efficiency
- Maintains or increases braking strength and safety due to high-strength steel reinforcement
- Improves fuel efficiency and performance by reducing unsprung mass in vehicles
- Allows for innovative designs in lightweight vehicles and electric transport applications
- Potentially lowers manufacturing costs by using common alloy materials with a strengthened steel insert

Patent Abstract
The caliper has a base body and a strip-shaped reinforcement element (1) smeared together. The base body is made of light alloy or a light metal alloy, and extruded aluminum, zinc, magnesium, chromium and copper alloy. The reinforcement element is made of high-strength steel. The reinforcement element is made of hot rolled fine grain sheet metal. A blank (3) for the base body is smeared with the strip-shaped reinforcement element by a Blacksmith's tool. The reinforcement element is curved, preformed and reversed to a forging mold before forging. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a brake caliper.
