Self-Lubricating Braided Fiber Load Carrier with Embedded Optical Monitoring
AISimple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention relates to a durable load carrier, such as those used in elevator construction, made with two braided polymer fiber reinforcements embedded in a flexible matrix. It incorporates a lubricant in the form of a bleeding plastic to reduce friction and extend durability. The design may include a control device with an optical wave guide for monitoring or control purposes.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Elevator hoisting systems and other vertical transportation in buildings
- Industrial lifting equipment requiring strong and flexible load carriers
- Construction of lifts in mines or high-rise structures
- Load-carrying ropes or cables in cranes
- Automated storage and retrieval systems
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enhanced durability and lifespan due to low-friction, self-lubricating fibers
- Improved safety and reliability for elevator and lifting applications
- Flexibility and strength from use of high-performance polymer fibers
- Integrated control or sensing capability via optical wave guides
- Reduced maintenance needs owing to embedded lubrication

Patent Abstract
The carrier (1) has two braided reinforcements (2) embedded into a flexible matrix material (3) and supplied with lubricant that is formed as bleeding plastic. A lubricant supplying device is provided in the braided reinforcements, and supplies the lubricant to the braided reinforcements, where the lubricant supplying device is designed as a cartridge or a hose. The reinforcements are made of high-modular polymer fibers such as aramide fibers, thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (TLCP) fibers, high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) fibers or polyphenylene-2, 6-benzobisoxazole (PBO) fibers. The carrier comprises a control device that is provided with an optical wave guide made of glass or plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for production of a load carrier.
