Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention is a bladder pressure measurement capsule designed for internal placement within a patient's bladder, particularly humans. The capsule includes a pressure sensor and supporting electronics inside a specially-shaped, flexible housing that can bend and revert to its original, non-linear form (e.g., a curved or toroidal segment) after insertion. The design helps prevent accidental expulsion during urination and facilitates both safe placement and retrieval via endoscopic tools.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Clinical monitoring of bladder pressure in patients with overactive bladder or other urinary disorders.
  • Research studies requiring detailed intravesical pressure data.
  • Remote or ambulatory bladder pressure logging for urodynamic assessments.
  • Improved data collection for diagnoses of incontinence or bladder dysfunction.
  • Patient monitoring post urological surgery or intervention.

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Minimizes risk of accidental expulsion from the bladder during urination due to its non-linear, reverting shape.
  • Allows easy insertion and removal using standard cystoscopic tools, reducing patient discomfort and clinical complexity.
  • Flexible, biocompatible design reduces the risk of injury or irritation to the bladder or urethra.
  • The embedded electronics offer reliable pressure sensing, data logging, and optional additional measurements (e.g., temperature).
  • Supports more accurate, continuous bladder monitoring without frequent medical supervision or stationary equipment.

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a bladder measurement capsule, which can be introduced into the bladder of a living being, in particular a human, and which has a pressure sensor and measurement electronics in a housing by means of which pressure measurement values provided by the pressure sensor can be detected and saved and which has a shape deviating from a linear longitudinal extension, in particular the shape of a ring torus sector, and is flexible against a resetting force into a linear longitudinally extended shape. The invention further relates to a method for producing a bladder pressure measurement capsule, wherein a flexible circuit board (2) carrying the internal components, in particular the electronic components, is inserted into a mold cavity which defines a shape of the bladder pressure measurement capsule deviating from a linear longitudinal extension, in particular the shape of a ring torus sector, and the mold cavity is filled with an elastomer casting compound (1) which cures without tension, in particular silicone.
