Device for mechanically attaching superimposed joining parts by rivets, has counter-stamping unit exerting reaction force on part to counteract stamping force, and fluid system pressurizing counter-stamping unit with variable fluid pressure
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a device used to join two or more overlapping parts using rivets. The device includes a mechanism that holds the parts together and inserts the rivet with a pressing force, while a special counter-stamping unit beneath the parts applies a reactive force through variable fluid pressure. This helps to precisely control the joining process and ensures strong, reliable rivet connections.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Automobile manufacturing for assembling body components and panels.
- Aerospace industry for joining metal sheets in aircraft structures.
- Construction of household appliances and machinery where strong metal connections are needed.
- Production of metal furniture or equipment that requires riveted joints.
- Industrial fabrication where different metal or composite materials must be fastened securely.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Provides adjustable counterforce for improved control and precision in rivet installation.
- Reduces the likelihood of material deformation or damage during joining.
- Enhances the strength and reliability of the joint by ensuring proper force distribution.
- Adaptable to different materials, part thicknesses, and rivet sizes due to variable fluid pressure.
- Can potentially increase the speed and automation of riveting processes in industrial settings.

Patent Abstract
The device (1) has stamping parts (16) arranged over parts to be joined (10, 12) by insertion of a rivet (14), and subjecting the rivet in a gumption phase with a stamping force. A die (18) is arranged below the joining parts and provided with a counter-stamping unit (18.2) that is movably guided in a fixed die unit (18.1). The counter-stamping unit exerts a reaction force on one of the joining parts for counteracting the stamping force. A fluid system (20) i.e. pneumatics system, pressurizes the counter-stamping unit with a variable fluid pressure for generating the reaction force.
