Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This patent describes a method for sealing at least part of a layer made of titanium aluminide that has been applied to a workpiece. The process involves applying a reactive brazing alloy based on titanium to at least part of the titanium aluminide layer on the workpiece, without preheating the workpiece. Then, the workpiece is heat-treated in an evacuated vacuum furnace at a temperature above 900°C, enabling a reactive sealing of the titanium aluminide layer.

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to methods for at least partially reactively sealing at least one layer applied to a workpiece consisting of a titanium aluminide and uses of a reactive solder applied to at least one region of a workpiece with a layer of a titanium aluminide. These are characterized in particular by the at least partially reactive sealing of at least one layer of a titanium aluminide applied to a workpiece. For this purpose, a reactive solder made of a titanium-based material is applied to the region of the layer of the workpiece, wherein the workpiece is not preheated. Furthermore, the workpiece with the layer of titanium aluminide and the reactive solder is heat-treated in an evacuated vacuum furnace at a temperature greater than 900 °C.
