Method for cutting screw thread-shaped twist structure of exhibiting workpiece, involves clearing workpiece away from tool in stop position, and making length of movement of tool to be smaller or equal to length of active cutting edge
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a method and device for cutting a screw thread-shaped twist structure (such as helical grooves or threads) on a workpiece using a machine tool. The process involves moving the cutting tool along the workpiece's axis while alternately stopping and moving the workpiece, ensuring the tool’s movement is limited to the active length of its cutting edge. During stops, the workpiece is shifted away from the tool, allowing for precise and continuous engagement without needing to reposition the tool frequently.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Precision manufacturing of threaded rods or screw shafts
- Production of twisted or helical structures in metal components
- Machining of exhibition pieces with intricate thread designs
- Manufacture of custom machine parts requiring unique thread profiles
- Improving efficiency in automated thread-cutting machines
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Provides precise and consistent thread or helical structure cutting
- Reduces tool wear by limiting unnecessary repositioning
- Enables continuous, controlled engagement between tool and workpiece
- Improves efficiency and accuracy in manufacturing processes
- Suitable for producing complex or customized thread designs

Patent Abstract
The method involves moving a machine tool (2) only in axial direction with respect to rotational axis of a workpiece (1) during alternatively moving and stopping the workpiece. Length of the movement of the tool is smaller or equal to length of an active cutting edge and the workpiece is cleared away from the tool in stop position, so that the tool is continuously contacted with the workpiece by start-stop turning operations of the tool, material is cleared away from the workpiece and repositioning of the tool is located on the workpiece through the cutting edge in the stop position. An independent claim is also included for a device for cutting a screw thread-shaped twist structure of an exhibiting workpiece.
