Joining System for Bonding Thermoplastic Fiber Composite Flat Panels
AISimple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
The patent describes a method and device for joining flat bodies (such as sheets or panels) made from thermoplastic fiber composite materials using a specialized thermoplastic joining element. This element is a unidirectionally continuous fiber-reinforced rod that connects the bodies by incorporating and redirecting the composite's reinforcing fibers, improving the mechanical bond.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Automotive and aerospace industries for assembling lightweight structural components
- Manufacture of sports equipment such as bicycles or skis made from thermoplastic composites
- Production of modular building panels or prefabricated construction elements
- Assembly of consumer electronics with reinforced plastic housings
- Joining of medical device components made from composite materials
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Provides a strong and reliable bond between thermoplastic composite parts
- Maintains or enhances the mechanical strength of the fiber-reinforced materials at the joint
- Enables lightweight construction due to effective use of continuous fibers
- Facilitates efficient manufacturing and assembly processes for composite structures
- Improves durability and longevity of assembled products

Patent Abstract
Thermoplastic flat composite body, wherein at least one of the bodies consists of a thermoplastic fiber composite material, characterized in that the bodies (1, 2) are connected to one another with a thermoplastic joining element as a formed piece of a unidirectionally continuous fiber-reinforced rod (9) with thermoplastic matrix such that the continuous fibers of the body (1, 2) made of the thermoplastic fiber composite material or the body (1, 2) made of the thermoplastic fiber composite material are deflected continuous fibers (7) by introduction of the joining element.
