Resistance Welding Gun with Linked Toggle Mechanism for Precise Electrode Control
AISimple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention is a specialized resistance welding clamp (welding pliers) that has two arms, each with an electrode, and a joint system that improves how the arms move from an open to a closed (welding) position. The arms are connected by levers and linkage elements designed to provide a controlled, smooth, and stable closing motion, ensuring the electrodes meet precisely during welding.

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a welding gun for resistance welding with two gun arms (2), wherein each gun arm (2) has an electrode (2.1) and the gun arms (2) are coupled to one another by means of a coupling element and with at least one welding electrode drive, wherein a first gun arm (2) is connected to a first lever (7) and a second gun arm (2) is connected to a second lever (7), wherein the gun arms (2) can be pivoted about a central pivot joint (1) by means of a first drive unit (4) from an open position into a brought-together position and according to the invention the levers (7) of the first and second gun arm (2) are connected to one another by means of at least two joint links (5) spaced apart from the central pivot point (1), wherein the joint links (5) are pivotably operatively connected to one another and to the levers (7) and the joint links (5) and thus the levers (7) can be swung out by means of a translationally adjustable first drive unit (4) such that the joint links (5) in a brought-together pivot position of the gun arms (2) are substantially collinear to one another.
