Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This patent describes a component made primarily from renewable raw materials, such as wood or similar substances, that includes at least one hole where the surrounding material has been locally compacted. This is achieved by a process in which a mandrel with a tapered tip is inserted into the material, creating a hole and densifying the area around it. The patent also includes the method and the specific tool used for this process.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Production of wooden or bio-composite structural parts with enhanced strength around apertures
  • Manufacture of furniture, doors, or panels where screws or fastener holes require reinforcement
  • Eco-friendly building components needing increased durability at connection points
  • Manufacturing automotive or transport components from renewable materials with improved fastener retention

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Improved durability and strength of renewable-material components at critical points (such as around holes)
  • Reduces reliance on synthetic or non-renewable reinforcement inserts
  • Provides an environmentally friendly solution for enhancing structural performance
  • Maintains the use of majority renewable materials, supporting sustainability goals
  • Allows for more reliable joining or mounting in components made from renewable resources

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a component made of a material consisting predominantly of renewable raw materials, wherein the component has at least one hole with a longitudinal axis (A) and the material in the area adjoining the hole on the circumferential side is locally compressed. According to the method, at least one mandrel, which has a substantially cylindrical shaft and a tip with a diameter reducing in the direction toward the component, penetrates into the material, thereby creates a hole in the component and displaces the wood material radially and/or axially, whereby the material in the area surrounding the hole is compressed. The tool used to carry out the method is designed in the form of at least one mandrel with a cylindrical or polygonal shaft and a tip reducing in diameter in the direction toward the component.
