Component Made from a Material Consisting Predominantly of Renewable Raw Materials, with at Least One Compacted Region and Tool for Producing the Compacted Region
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention relates to components made mostly from renewable raw materials, such as wood or bamboo, that contain holes for fasteners like screws. The innovation involves locally compressing the material around these holes using a specially designed pin-shaped tool during manufacturing. This compression increases the density and mechanical strength around the holes, resulting in more durable and stable screw or bolt connections without requiring extra inserts or sleeves.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Manufacturing of furniture and cabinetry using wood or bamboo panels with stronger screw joints
- Construction of prefabricated wooden buildings or modular structures
- Assembly of wood-based packaging materials, pallets, or crates requiring reliable fastening
- Production of hybrid material panels (wood-plastic composites) where improved joint strength is needed
- Automotive or transportation sectors using renewable-based panels with high-strength connections
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improves the load-bearing capacity and long-term durability of fastener joints in renewable material components
- Reduces settlement, relaxation, and internal stress around screw or bolt holes, resulting in stable, slip-resistant connections
- Eliminates the need for additional reinforcing inserts or sleeves, simplifying production and reducing costs
- Supports sustainable manufacturing by maximizing the structural performance of renewable materials
- Offers an efficient, tool-based method adaptable to a variety of board or panel products with different compositions

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a component made from a material consisting predominantly of renewable raw materials, the component having at least one hole with a longitudinal axis (A) and the material being locally compressed in the region peripherally adjoining the hole. According to the method, at least one pin, which comprises a substantially cylindrical shaft and a tip having a reducing diameter in the direction of the component, penetrates into the material, thus creating a hole in the component, and displaces the wood material radially and/or axially, so that the material in the region surrounding the hole is compressed. The tool used for carrying out the method is designed in the form of at least one pin having a cylindrical or polygonal shaft and a tip reducing in diameter in the direction of the component.
