Die Erfindung betrifft eine Schweißzange zum Widerstandsschweißen mit zwei, Zangenarmen, wobei jeder Zangenarm eine Elektrode aufweist und mit wenigstens einem Schweißelektrodenantrieb, wobei wenigstens eines der beiden Zangenarme (2) mit einem Schweißelektrodenantrieb in Form einer zweiten Antriebseinheit (3.1) antreibbar ist und mit dieser aus einer voneinander beabstandeten Position der Zangenarme (2) mit einer translatorischen Stellbewegung in Form eines Krafthubes in die Schweißposition bewegbar ist.
