Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

The invention describes a method for applying lacquer to molded parts made of fiber-reinforced plastic, especially those with complex three-dimensional shapes. The process uses an in-mold coating technique, where the lacquer is injected and distributed in the mold with the help of a vacuum applied at the overflow channel, while simultaneously controlling the mold temperature. This ensures flawless coating even in areas with difficult geometries. The technique is particularly suited for lightweight structural components approved for aviation that are manufactured by resin injection methods.

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a method for applying a coating to a molded part made of fiber-reinforced plastic, which makes it possible to coat spatially complex molded parts (3) – including in bend areas – free of surface defects. The method is carried out according to an in-mould-coating process, wherein during the coating injection, the filling of the coating into the mold tool is supported by applying a negative pressure at the overflow channel (1.1) of the mold tool; simultaneously, the temperature control of the mold tool takes place. The method is particularly suitable for the application of coatings to aerospace-approved lightweight structural components that were manufactured using resin injection methods.
