The invention relates to a method for applying a coating to a molded part made of fiber-reinforced plastic, which makes it possible to coat spatially complex molded parts (3) – including in bend areas – free of surface defects. The method is carried out according to an in-mould-coating process, wherein during the coating injection, the filling of the coating into the mold tool is supported by applying a negative pressure at the overflow channel (1.1) of the mold tool; simultaneously, the temperature control of the mold tool takes place. The method is particularly suitable for the application of coatings to aerospace-approved lightweight structural components that were manufactured using resin injection methods.
